What is the difference between JPEG and JPG?
Nothing — they are the same format. JPG is just the three-letter version of the extension from old Windows systems. Portals asking for either will accept the file this tool produces.
How much can a JPEG be compressed without visible loss?
A camera JPEG can usually shrink 5–10x before quality loss becomes obvious, because cameras encode at conservative settings. Going from 4MB to 100KB (40x) will soften fine detail, but faces and documents stay clearly readable.
